Psychobilly Kicks Back again – with another big cheque!

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care continues to be hugely grateful to the Psychobilly community for its ongoing support. Our photograph, taken outside the Cherry Lodge centre on Friday 5th February 2021, shows Steve (Ginger) and Amanda Meadham handing over a big cheque for £5,570 pounds to Tina Papasavva, Cherry Lodge’s fundraising coordinator. These are very difficult times for everyone and this money will help us continue to provide our much needed information and support services for people affected by cancer.

Psychobilly Kicks Back Against Cancer (PKB) is the brainchild of Steve and Amanda, who, over the years, have put on a run of very successful live Psychobilly gigs to raise money for us. 2020 was a year like no other – and plans for a live event had to be cancelled. Instead, PKB joined forces with Doghouse Radio to put on a fantastic live radio show: Large Aid. This non-stop psychobilly extravaganza, hosted by Steve Meadham and Nigel Stacy, ran for 24 hours from 9pm on Saturday 3rd October 2020. It featured sets from eight fantastic DJs from the UK and US. As well as great music, there were some very enticing auction items and attractive freebies on offer. An impressive cd – Large Aid vol. 1 – was produced ahead of the event and has since been followed by a second volume, which will be available very soon.
