TSB Runs the Extra Mile for Cherry Lodge

The Barnet branch of TSB really did run the extra mile for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care on Friday 25th September 2015 as part of their commitment to raise funds for our much needed services.

The branch was decorated with Cherry Lodge balloons (which toned in beautifully with the bank’s own corporate colours) and all staff members wore a Cherry Lodge t-shirt or running vest. Customers couldn’t help but notice that something special was going on. There was also a table bearing a choice of delicious gateaux (all made by a Cherry Lodge volunteer) for customers to enjoy in return for a donation.

The main focus of the day, however, was Mark Bennison’s 18-mile run. Mark has worked at Barnet TSB for many years and has previously raised money for charity by running marathons. On this occasion, his route was chosen to raise awareness of Cherry Lodge while also encouraging TSB staff and customers in Barnet and the surrounding area to put money in the collecting tins.

Mark set out from his home branch at 10.30 am (after a fun-filled photoshoot with his colleagues, see photos, below). He then ran to three other TSB branches: Finchley (arriving at 11.20), Enfield (at 12.10) and Cockfosters (at 1.10). As the clock in the main photo shows, he completed his 18 mile-run at 2.05 pm. His delighted colleagues, who had followed his progress by phone, gave him a rapturous welcome – as well as a small cup! Well done Mark!

There have been Cherry Lodge collecting tins in the TSB Barnet branch for some time now – and many people have been extremely generous both in the lead up to the run and on the day itself.

Cherry Lodge sends a big thank you to everyone involved in this fundraising initiative and to everyone who has shown their support.
