Cherry Lodge Cancer Care is delighted to be a chosen charity of Cllr Zahra Beg, Barnet’s mayor for 2026-2027. We have already reported that Madam Mayor kindly opened CL’s Big Barnet Walk on 25th May and visited our centre on 18th June. Money from mayoral fundraising this year will be shared between Cherry Lodge and Young Barnet Foundation.
Cherry Lodge co-chair Sarah Armitage was a guest at the official mayor-making ceremony, which took place during the full council meeting held at Hendon Town Hall on 7th July. Our photograph shows Madam Mayor wearing her mayoral robes and chains, along with Deputy Mayor Cllr Humayune Khalick. In her speech, Madam Mayor summarised the work of her two chosen charities and outlined how we planned to use the funds raised during her year of office.
