As reported previously (see Past Events on this website), Margaret Clark, chairman of the Cherry Lodge trustees, successfully completed the Brooks Serpentine 10k around Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens on 1st January 2015. This was Margaret’s ‘New Knee’s Day’ – when she was able to demonstrate that it would take more than a full knee replacement to stop her enjoying the fun and raising sponsorship money for Cherry Lodge. Margaret’s letter of thanks, sent to her sponsors, is reproduced below.
Thank you from Margaret
‘You kindly sponsored me to undertake this January 1st the Serpentine 10k run, though my new knee, obeying surgeon’s strict orders, only allowed me to walk the distance. It was cold and windy but there was a great atmosphere with lots of friendly people with curious children and inquisitive dogs to be met along the way through Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. The exciting backdrop of the winter wonderland big wheel added to the fun of the day. I completed the course in 1 hour 41 minutes and 36 seconds but I did it and I did it for Cherry Lodge. I have raised a total of £1406, which certainly exceeded my expectations, so thank you all again.’
