London Marathon 2014

Fundraising update: our six successful runners in the 2014 Virgin London Marathon have between them raised the very impressive sum of £8,898 for Cherry Lodge. We offer our heartfelt thanks to all our lovely runners and also to all their generous sponsors.

The day of the run, 13th April 2014, was possibly the hottest of the year so far and it was hard going, even for our intrepid and experienced runners. James injured his knee skidding on a carelessly discarded water bottle, and mother and daughter team, Jackie and Nicola, both developed blisters. Coralie ached all over and Andy just ran it. Nick Brand successfully completed the 26.2 miles and then leapt straight onto a plane to Spain.

The following day, a little party (including some massage therapies) was held at Cherry Lodge to thank our runners. In addition to our white cherry tree’s first ever blossom, our party day photograph shows, from left to right, Coralie, Andy (who unfortunately forgot to wear his Finisher’s t-shirt!), Jackie, James and Nicola.

All six runners reported that they had hugely enjoyed taking part in this gruelling event – and all are keen to run it again! There is no answer to that.
