Cherry Lodge Pink Tombola 2023

Every year, in “Pink October”, Cherry Lodge Cancer Care marks Breast Cancer Awareness month by setting up a very enticing Pink Tombola stall in The Spires, Barnet. Our 2023 event, which took place on Saturday 14th October, was as popular as ever, providing lots of fun for people of all ages. On a more serious note, this annual event is recognised as  a very effective way of increasing public awareness of breast cancer, reminding people that Cherry Lodge is close at hand, and raising money to ensure that Cherry Lodge can continue to provide its much needed information and support services completely free of charge to people affected by any type of cancer. The total raised was an excellent £424, including a donation of £100 from the Coffee Club, Barnet.

Thanks to the generosity, imagination and sense of fun of the many individuals who donated items, the long table looked like a sea of pink when the event was declared open at 11am. Instead of drawing a ticket from a bucket, participants were asked to pull a small stick from the numerous holes in a large polystyrene board. Winning sticks carried numbers ending in a 0 or a 5 to be matched with prizes on the table. (Thank you again to Kim and Annys for coming up with this very clever invention in 2020 in response to the challenge of putting on our event when Covid was prevalent.)

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care sends thanks to everyone who helped make this such a successful event, by donating pink items or money and by finding time to visit the stall for a light-hearted flutter. Thank you also to all the volunteers and staff members who organised this very successful event, especially those who admitted to getting very cold on the day.
