Charity Golf Day at Hadley Wood

After a cold and wet spell, the weather was warm and sunny for the Charity Golf Day held on 10th September 2015 at Hadley Wood Golf Club. This annual event, put on by Alan Cox Associates, local architectural and planning consultants, proved as popular as ever, with all 80 playing places taken up well ahead of the day.

As well as being very enjoyable, this event raises a lot of money for its chosen charities: Cherry Lodge Cancer Care, Diabetes UK and Bravo Theatre Group. This year’s event was dedicated to the memory of Jan Oliver, a Cherry Lodge member who died last year.

Teams of four paid £400 to play on this excellent golf course and to enjoy a delicious lunch. Local businesses paid to advertise in the Golf Day programme (£200 for a page and £100 for a half page), and others paid £100 to sponsor a hole. On the day there was a wonderful auction with some amazing prizes. Aston Martin used the event as a promotion and brought along four models for people to admire. They also donated two auction prizes (an Aston Martin for people to keep for a weekend from Friday to Monday; and an opportunity to drive one of their cars on the company testing track), which together raised almost £1500. People also showed their generosity by buying a lot of raffle tickets.

Thanks were given to Alan, Richard, Peter and Byron for their hard work to make this day such a brilliant success. We can now all look forward to next September when we will do it all again.
