Caring at Sainsbury’s, Potters Bar

Every local charity must be seen to be part of its community, to meet as many people as possible. Sainsbury’s, Potters Bar recently gave Cherry Lodge Cancer Care such an opportunity; as part of Carers Week, on 10th June 2015, we were invited to their store to meet not only their customers but also staff.

Cherry Lodge’s Macmillan Cancer Information Outreach Nurse, Kirsty Mabb, was not only able to talk to individuals, but also to take their blood pressure. A good number of customers and staff came over to our desk, not just to talk but also very kindly to put their hand in their pocket to donate. Many conversations were held around people having volunteered for us, but also that they knew about Cherry Lodge services through their family members or friends.

All the Sainsbury’s staff were extremely kind and helpful and went a long way to making the time at the store enjoyable. It is our hope that this new relationship will prove to be long and fruitful for both Cherry Lodge and, of course, Sainsbury’s, Potters Bar.
