Congratulations to our Half Marathon runners!

Congratulations and and a big thank you to the five Cherry Lodge runners who all successfully completed the North London Half Marathon on Sunday 20th March 2016.

This year, for the first time, the run started and ended in Wembley Stadium, with Saracens’ Allianz Park at the half-way point of a picturesque 13.1-mile route through Brent and Barnet. This was a truly memorable experience for all our runners, culminating at ‘the greatest finish line … in the world!’.

Readers of the website are reminded that there is still time to sponsor our runners to help Cherry Lodge and to congratulate them for their great success on the day. On 24th March, with GiftAid, their combined total stood at just over £1500 – thank you to our runners and all their supporters for this great achievement.

Mark Hardy has told us: “I completed the race in around 1hr 46 mins and thoroughly enjoyed it! I loved every second of the run, apart from the pain! Being a part of something so big with so many worthy charities and brilliant athletes was a tremendous experience. The words of encouragement from the locals, particularly those who cheered the name of Cherry Lodge, and finishing at the home of football is something that I will remember for a long time to come. Thank you very much for giving me the opportunity to represent yourselves.” (See Mark in photos 1 and 2 below.)

Dee and John Churchill have a shared JustGiving page where you can still sponsor them for taking part in this event to raise money for Cherry Lodge. They both completed the run in a little over 2 hours and have sent us several photos of this great occasion (see right and below, photos 3 and 4).

Suresh Aggarwal and Naveen Bhandari also have a shared JustGiving page. Suresh has written: ‘I am pleased to advise that Naveen and I both completed the run with times of 2:38 and 2:23 respectively. It was tough going especially as we were both carrying calf injuries – however the fact that many people had kindly sponsored us for a fantastic cause and the fact that the finish line was in Wembley Stadium inspired us to keep going. I understand that about 6,700 people ran the race in a very well organised event. Overall an excellent experience which we are likely to repeat! (See Naveen and Suresh in photos 5 and 6.)

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care relies on fundraising to provide our wide range of information and support services free of charge to anyone affected by cancer. Please sponsor our runners and donate as generously as you can.
