Cherry Lodge Cancer Care’s Pink Tombola tables returned to Barnet’s The Spires on Saturday 18th October 2025. As always, this colourful, fun-filled event proved very popular with shoppers of all ages. We hold this event every year in October, which is national Breast Cancer Awareness month, and every prize on the table is pink, like the universal pink ribbon symbol for breast cancer awareness. Our event also helps us raise money that CL badly needs to help fund our wide range of information and support services, offered completely free of charge to local people affected by all forms of cancer.
When the event opened at 11am, the two tables and the large boxes underneath them were packed with over 300 generously donated pink prizes. As in previous years, instead of drawing a ticket from a bucket, participants were asked to pull a small stick from the numerous holes in a large polystyrene board. Winning sticks carried numbers ending in a 0 or a 5 to be matched with prizes on the table. (Thank you again to Kim and Annys for coming up with this very clever invention in 2020 in response to the challenge of putting on our event when Covid was prevalent.) By mid afternoon, the tables were bare, with only a handful of prizes saved for on another day.
Cherry Lodge Cancer Care sends warm thanks to everyone who donated pink items or money. Thank you also to the many people who visited the stall to enjoy a flutter and show their support. Special thanks are given to Tina and her volunteers for working extremely hard ahead of and during this very successful event. The money has now been counted and the total was our best ever for this event – a very welcome £500.
