A very pleasant evening was enjoyed by a small but very committed group of Cherry Lodge Cancer Care supporters who took up the Trustees’ invitation to attend a thank you evening at Howard House on Monday 28th October 2019.
Prominent among those present were members of the Soulstice crew, whose main Summer Soulstice event in June 2019 raised a record £45,000 for our charity. Also at this ‘thank you’ event were Cherry Lodge volunteers who manned the Summer Soulstice car park and gates and helped Tina on the CL stall. Other important guests were two members of our ‘Quiz Family’: Maureen and Dawn Southon (photo 6, below), both recuperating after recent hip operations. Maureen and Dawn both regularly assist Maureen’s husband, David, who has been our resident quiz master for many years now. Special mention is also due to Howard Cooper, who recently arranged and paid for the refurbishment of one of our therapy rooms in memory of his wife Carolynne, a Cherry Lodge member. Howard was accompanied by his daughter Lizzie.
Drinks were on offer and an excellent buffet, including a good selection of sandwiches, crudites, mini samosas, mini spring rolls, dips and pieces of fruit, was put on by Hazel and Tee of Hazel’s Kitchen (1st photo, below). Not only was their food delicious and very fresh, but Hazel and Tee, with their lively outgoing personalities, soon showed that they would be an asset at any social gathering.
Ensuring that the evening ran smoothly were Cherry Lodge chairman, Margaret, staff members Yvonne, Tina, Fiona and Kirsty, and volunteer Freddy. Three of Cherry Lodge’s regular therapists, Loretta, Annys and Andi, were on hand to provide short sessions of reflexology or head and neck massage to those who requested them.
Cherry Lodge Cancer Care is extremely grateful to all our supporters, including those who were unable to attend this annual ‘thank you evening’. We extend special thanks as always to the Soulstice crew for their wonderful support throughout the year. Thank you too to Cherry Lodge’s loyal and hard-working staff members and to the numerous volunteers without whom Cherry Lodge would not be able to function.
