Cherry Lodge Cancer Care fundraisers continue to put on an interesting and succesful range of events, getting 2024 off to an excellent start with the Summer Soulstice/Cherry Lodge Heart & Soul Ball on 17th February. This was followed, on Friday 23rd February, by the first Arkley Club Cha Night of the year. Iris’s Easter Flower Arranging Workshop, held on Thursday 21st March 2024 at Barnet Grange Care Home, was very much enjoyed. Thankfully, the weather stayed dry for the Cherry Lodge Easter Sponsored Walk ‘n’ Talk event in Oakhill Park on Sunday 24th April 2024.
Next up for CL fundraisers is the 2024 tcs London Marathon on Sunday 21st April. We have seven runners taking part to raise money for Cherry Lodge – please sponsor them as generously as you can. Summer Soulstice is holding a festival Warm-Up event at the Black Horse pub, Barnet on Saturday 4th May 2024, with soulful beats from 4pm until midnight, wood-fired pizza and cocktails. Enjoy a fantastic comedy line-up at Laugh out Loud on Saturday 11th May 2024. Thinking further ahead, tickets are available via this link for Summer Soulstice 2024, to be held on Saturday 15th June.
From coffee mornings and lunches to running events and bike rides, there is a whole range of activities you can enjoy while also supporting Cherry Lodge.

The Virgin Money London Marathon will be back as a major fundraising event on Sunday 3rd October 2021. Cherry Lodge Cancer Care will be fielding a team of five runners:

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care’s annual Pink Tombola stall will be returning to The Spires, Barnet on Saturday 9th October 2021. Please drop by our stall – by Savers between 10am and 4pm – to have some fun and show your support. Anti-Covid precautions will be in place.
October is national Breast Cancer Awareness month and every year Cherry Lodge marks this by putting on our very popular Pink Tombola event. This occasion has two important purposes: to help increase awareness of breast cancer and to raise money to help fund Cherry Lodge Cancer Care’s much needed information and support services for people affected by all types of cancer.
The Cherry Lodge Cancer Care ‘Soul Fall Ball’ will take place on Saturday 23rd October 2021, from 7pm until late, at the Double Tree Hilton Hotel, Borehamwood. Now with less than two weeks to go, there is is still time to buy tickets – but only just! Covid safety precautions will be in place.
Come along and enjoy a glittering evening, with great dance music (courtesy of our friends at Summer Sousltice) and sumptuous food, while also raising money to help fund Cherry Lodge’s much needed services for people affected by cancer.
Tickets cost £65 per person. (Early bird tickets at £60 were available until 30th September.) The ticket price includes: a welcome glass of Prosecco; a tempting three-course dinner; music from Soulstice DJ’s; and a special live music act (to be announced).
The dress code is Black Tie.

You are warmly invited to a fundraising Xmas Shopping Charity Event at Hadley Wood Golf Club on Tuesday 9th November 2021 from 11am to 5pm. This event is being held in aid of Cherry Lodge Cancer Care and Puddenecks Help for the Elderly in Barnet.
There is no charge for Hadley Wood Golf Club members. Friends, family and local residents can choose entry at £5 including a raffle ticket, or £10 including a raffle ticket, tea/coffee and a piece of cake.
This is a very timely opportunity to enjoy a browse in lovely surroundings and make purchases from a wide selection of very enticing stalls (including the Cherry Lodge stall). Why not get ahead with your Christmas shopping while also supporting two very worthy local charities: Cherry Lodge and Puddenecks?
The Cherry Lodge Cancer Care Information and Merchandise stall is returning to Barnet’s The Spires (outside Savers) on Wednesday 17th November 2021.
Our team will be there between 11am and 4pm to raise funds and provide information about Cherry Lodge’s many services for people affected by cancer.
Be sure not miss our very tempting Winter Sale! There will be Cherry Lodge Christmas cards for you to buy, as well as an attractive range of seasonal items, including warm hats and scarves.

The annual Barnet Christmas Fayre, organised by the Mayor’s Appeal committee, will take place on Sunday 5th December 2021 between 12 noon and 5pm. The main streets will be closed to traffic and hundreds of people are expected to turn out to enjoy the fun.
The event features a Christmas parade to kick off proceedings followed by a range of festive activities continuing through the afternoon. See the map below for location details. You will find something for all the family, including a funfair, children’s shows, music, dance and the Christmas courtyard. A tempting assortment of food, drink, craft and gift items will be on sale from the many market stalls.
The Cherry Lodge shop will be open from 12 until 4pm and the Cherry Lodge Information and Merchandising stall will be in The Spires.

The annual Barnet Christmas Fayre will take place on Sunday 5th December 2021. The streets will be closed to traffic and there will be live entertainment as well as stalls offering a tempting assortment of food, drink, craft and gift items. This is always a very enjoyable and busy day.
As usual, the Cherry Lodge Shop in Church Passage will be opening on this special Sunday (from 12 noon until 4pm). You will find a warm welcome and a great selection of good value seasonal items on sale.
If you visit The Spires Shopping Centre, you will also be welcomed at the Cherry Lodge Information and Merchandise Stall.
We are pleased to announce that the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care annual ‘Lights of Love’ ceremony is returning as a live outdoor event on Sunday 12th December 2021. it will take place as previously around the bandstand to the rear of Barnet’s The Spires Shopping Centre.
This moving cermony offers an opportunity for people to come together to remember a loved one, to mark a special occasion, to share a token of love, or simply to enjoy the company of others. Attendance is by invitation only.
Before the event, people are invited to make a donation to Cherry Lodge Cancer Care to sponsor a symbolic light on the bandstand. Everyone on the Cherry Lodge mailing list should have received a donation form along with their Autumn Newsletter. If you haven’t received a form, please contact Tina on 020 8441 7000 or email tina@cherrylodgecancercare.org.uk.
On receipt of your donation, Cherry Ldoge will send you a dedication card for each person you named plus an invitation to attend the lighting ceremony.
The ceremony is scheduled to start at 4.30pm. The lights on the bandstand will be switched on, carols will be sung, readings will be given, the names of people to be remembered will be read out, and refreshments will be served.
Support Cherry Lodge Cancer Care by attending our online Festive Fun Quiz on Sunday 19th December 2021 from 7 to 9.30pm. The event will be via Zoom.
Quiz master Jem returns with another evening of great quiz questions to give your brain a workout while also providing lots of fun for all the family. There are plenty of prizes, including one for the best jumper, so get a team together or join up with new friends to show us how smart you are! Teams (of up to 8 people) from different households will be able to use social media to answer questions together.

Cherry Lodge Cancer Care invites you to join us for a great night of music and dance at Old Fold Manor Golf Club on Saturday 5th March 2022. Beat the winter blues while helping raise funds for CL’s much needed cancer information and support services. Precautions against Covid will be in place.
Listen to the sounds of the Rat Pack, with live music from the very talented Dean Gee, one of the UK’s greatest crooner tributes. Then dance the night away to our wide-ranging Party Mix, including Swing, Rat Pack, Buble, 50s to 80s and Rock ‘n’ Roll.
The ticket price of £25 per person includes a welcome glass of Prosecco and canapes. The dress code is lounge suit.

You are invited by the Arkley Club to enjoy a great evening of Cha Night music. This event will be held at The Arkley Club premises in Field End, Barnet on Friday 8th April 2022, from 7.30 until midnight. Everyone is welcome and all proceeds will go to Cherry Lodge Cancer Care.
Listen and dance to 60s and 70s Soul, Stax, Motown, Ska, Reggae and Philly Sound. Music will be provided by The Arkley Club’s regular DJs, Dave Griffin, Matt C. and Keith M.
Entry is £5 at the door, where you will have the option of making a card payment direct to Cherry Lodge’s bank account. Top-up donations will of course be welcome.
Note that the group walk will start at 11.15am. Please assemble by Oakhill Pitch and Golf, which is off Parkside Gardens near the car park – NOT the cafe on Oak Hill Road.
Cherry Lodge Cancer Care’s Sponsored Easter Walk promises to be huge fun, as well as being an excellent way to raise money to help fund CL’s many vital services.
It is being held in Oakhill Park, East Barnet (EN4 8JP) on Sunday 10th April 2022 (the weekend before Easter). The course distance is 3Km, which you can walk, jog or run as you prefer, starting between 11am and 3pm.
You are encouraged to ask your friends and family for sponsorship and register your place in advance by contacting Tina by email or call her on 020 8441 7000. All participants will receive a free goody bag.
If you would like to join in more informally, then do just come along on the day. Perhaps walk only part of the course, meet up with friends or simply enjoy being in the park? There will be a prize for the best Easter Bonnet. On sale on our Easter Walk stalls you will find a good selection of Easter cakes, decorative chicks, and craft items donated by Hobbycraft.

New Ground Cohousing, at 5b Union St, Barnet, EN5 4DF, are raising money to help fund Cherry Lodge Cancer Care’s much needed information and services for people affected by cancer, including family and friends.
You are invited to get ready for summer with a pre-loved bargain or two from their Clothes and Accessories Sale, to be held on Friday 15th April from 10am to 4pm.
Proceeds from the sale and refreshments will be donated to Cherry Lodge Cancer Care.
