What a wonderful day we shared together at Cherry Lodge Cancer Care’s very first Big Barnet Walk, held on Bank Holiday Monday, 25th May 2026. The event was officially opened with the cutting of a blue ribbon by The Worshipful the Mayor of the London Borough of Barnet, Councillor Zahra Beg, alongside her daughter the Mayoress, Ms Aliyah Sapsard.
It it was an honour to have so many people taking part. With sunshine above us and the beautiful Totteridge Fields around us, supporters, members, volunteers, trustees, friends, and families came together to walk, connect, and raise vital funds for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care. Together, we raised over £8,000 – a fantastic achievement that will help us continue providing free nurse-led support, counselling, befriending services and complementary therapies for our members and their carers.
More than the fundraising total, the day was filled with kindness, conversation, encouragement, and community spirit. It was lovely to see people walking side by side, getting to know one another, sharing stories, and simply enjoying time outdoors together.
A huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated, volunteered, marshalled, photographed, supported, and helped make the event possible. Special thanks also to our wonderful walk leaders and volunteers who kept everyone safe and smiling throughout the route. We are so grateful to every single person who supported this first event and helped make it such a success.
We already can’t wait for the next Big Barnet Walk!
