News, Stories, Events and Services
Thank you to editor Helen Renshaw, designer Marcus Kirby and others who contributed to this Newsletter.
On the front page is ‘What Cherry Lodge Means to me’, describing the help received by Dennis Harris since his diagnosis with prostate cancer eight years ago. He tells us ‘I just wish I had a million pounds to donate, because it’s a lifeline for so many people’.
‘CL Chat’ reminds us of enjoyable fundraising events held over the last six months, including ‘Spring into Soul’, Laugh Out Loud’ and ‘Blue Hills Open Garden’. Following the success of our first ‘Big Barnet Walk’ we are appealing for people to help plan and run the next one, on Sunday 16th May 2027.
Cherry Lodge now offers a wider range of therapies than ever before. In ‘Therapists Special’, volunteer coordinator Caroline Stevens describes the valued contribution of our expanding community of therapists.
This issue’s ‘Big Thank You’ goes to Ruth Midgley, who has recently stepped down from being a CL trustee. A welcome is extended to Anne Kapoor as a new member of the board of trustees. Ruth will also soon end her 12-year stint as editor of the Cherry Lodge website alongside webmaster Dan Orchard. Hot off the press is the news that ‘Our brand new website is coming soon’, with Helen Renshaw as editor.
‘A good card’ draws attention to the the beautiful hand-made cards that Gladys Serpant has been creating and selling to give people pleasure and raise money for ‘such a good cause’.
Under the heading ‘Cherry Lodge Champions’, fundraising events coordinator Tina Papasavva conveys congratulations and thanks to our amazing fundraising runners and walkers. Read about the Impressive sums raised by CL participants in the London Landmarks Half Marathon, the London Marathon and our own Big Barnet Walk.
Thanks are also extended to Madam Mayor, Councillor Zahra Beg, who has named CL as one of her two chosen charities.
As usual, this issue also includes news snippets, information about upcoming Fundraising Events, and details about CL’s wide range of services.
If you have any Cherry Lodge stories you would like to share – especially if you are a member, volunteer or donor – please contact Helen on helen.renshaw22@gmail.com.
