On Wednesday 26th November 2025, Cherry Lodge Cancer Care welcomed our volunteers to a special gathering dedicated to celebrating the people who form the heart of our charity. From those who joined us only recently to those who have supported Cherry Lodge since our earliest days, 29 years ago in a portacabin in the grounds of Barnet Hospital, every volunteer plays a vital role in shaping who we are today.
Our volunteers give their time, compassion, and energy in so many meaningful ways. To support the wellbeing of our members, volunteer therapists provide counselling, reflexology, clinical hypnotherapy, acupuncture, life coaching, laughter wellness, reiki and many other complementary therapies. Friendly receptionists greet visitors and create a warm first impression. Event fundraisers help us raise essential funds, while our admin and project volunteers keep the organisation running smoothly behind the scenes. Drivers ensure our events and shop run smoothly. Our shop volunteers support our charity retail work, and our wonderful befrienders offer emotional support and companionship to those who need it most.
Every contribution — big or small, visible or quietly done — is invaluable. Each volunteer is part of the Cherry Lodge Cancer Care family, and together they help improve the quality of life for people living with cancer in and around Barnet.
It was a joy to see so many volunteers gathered together, sharing conversations, reconnecting and celebrating the difference they make every day. The atmosphere was warm, uplifting and truly reflective of the incredible community our volunteers have helped to build. We look forward to hosting another event soon.
Our Thanks to Local Supporters
We would also like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the generous local businesses who supported this event by donating food:
And a special thank you to Wesley Hall for loaning us 40 mugs for the occasion.
Their kindness contributed greatly to the success of the day and reminded us how fortunate we are to be part of such a caring and community-minded area.
A Final Thank You
To all our volunteers — whether you attended the event or support us in other ways — thank you. Your time, compassion and dedication make a profound difference to those living with cancer in our community. We are deeply grateful for everything you do.
