Reiki is a Japanese word meaning ‘Universal Life Energy’. It is the energy that flows through all living things and it can be activated by healing. Reiki recognises the oneness of all. It is not a religion and does not require any religious belief.
The Usui Reiki Art of Natural Healing was rediscovered about 100 years ago in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui.
How does Reiki Healing work?
The Reiki practitioner channels the life energy through his or her hands to the recipient’s body, which in turn activates the body’s own natural healing process. During healing, the recipient lies fully clothed on a massage table, while the practitioner places his or hand hands in certain positions on the recipient’s body. The energy is then drawn to where it is most needed. Reiki will cleanse the recipient’s body and bring balance to it by unblocking subtle energy pathways.
Some of the improvements reported by Reiki clients are:
- Relief from chronic pain
- Deeper sleep
- Greater confidence
- Feeling generally more positive
- Relief from stress and tension
- Increased energy levels
Who could benefit from Reiki Healing?
Reiki works alongside orthodox methods of treatment and is helpful for people living with cancer. It promotes well-being, helps people participate joyfully in their lives, and is beneficial for dealing with emotional issues such as feelings of bereavement, anxiety and depression.
