Yoga

Most people know that yoga can promote good health. This is achieved through a conjunction of simple exercises and breathing techniques which together produce calmness and peace of mind. This in turn allows the body to repair and regenerate itself.

At Cherry Lodge, together with our qualified yoga teacher, we have worked out a simple but effective technique of yoga therapy. Using the applied principles of the age-old system of yoga, we help our members to help themselves.

How can Yoga help?

Yoga is suitable for people of all ages and no experience is necessary. Individual programmes can be worked out, should this be necessary. In particular, yoga can benefit in the following ways:

  • creating a more flexible, healthy body by simple physical movements which are not taxing
  • relieving anxiety and tension and promoting better and easier sleeping patterns
  • learning to de-stress oneself under various conditions while sitting or lying down
  • improving concentration and clarity
  • increasing energy levels

What is involved in a Yoga session?

The one hour session consists of learning to move all of the joints in the body using simple movements, many of which can be performed sitting on a chair if necessary. Stalwart members do still sit on the floor: the traditional yoga way.

We also teach simple breathing techniques that can bring relief from tension and anxiety and have a very beneficial calming effect. We finish the lesson with a 15 minute relaxation which is easy to remember should you wish to repeat the peaceful experience in your own home.

A weekly yoga therapy class is held on Tuesdays from 15:00 to 16:00.
