Cherry Lodge Cancer Care fundraisers continue to put on an interesting and succesful range of events, getting 2024 off to an excellent start with the Summer Soulstice/Cherry Lodge Heart & Soul Ball on 17th February. This was followed, on Friday 23rd February, by the first Arkley Club Cha Night of the year. Iris’s Easter Flower Arranging Workshop, held on Thursday 21st March 2024 at Barnet Grange Care Home, was very much enjoyed. Thankfully, the weather stayed dry for the Cherry Lodge Easter Sponsored Walk ‘n’ Talk event in Oakhill Park on Sunday 24th April 2024.

Next up for CL fundraisers is the 2024 tcs London Marathon on Sunday 21st April. We have seven runners taking part to raise money for Cherry Lodge – please sponsor them as generously as you can. Summer Soulstice is holding a festival Warm-Up event at the Black Horse pub, Barnet on Saturday 4th May 2024, with soulful beats from 4pm until midnight, wood-fired pizza and cocktails. Enjoy a fantastic comedy line-up at Laugh out Loud on Saturday 11th May 2024. Thinking further ahead, tickets are available via this link for Summer Soulstice 2024, to be held on Saturday 15th June.

From coffee mornings and lunches to running events and bike rides, there is a whole range of activities you can enjoy while also supporting Cherry Lodge.

On this page of the website you can see our events programme presented in two different ways. Use the drop-down menu immediately below this text to select either ‘Agenda’ (an interactive list with dates, which is the default option) or ‘Month’ (an interactive calendar that shows the planned events month by month). Each of these options provides an overview of our scheduled events.

You can find out more detailed information about an event in the following ways. If you are using the Agenda view, click on an event to see a display box and a Read More button to take you to the event page, where you will find full details including a map. If you are using the Monthly Calendar, hover your cursor over an event date to see a display box and then click to go to the event page.

Danceathon by Highstone Dance Academy @ Coffee Bean Garden, The Spires
Jul 12 @ 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm
Danceathon by Highstone Dance Academy @ Coffee Bean Garden, The Spires | England | United Kingdom

Shocked by news of the burglary at Soulstice HQ, The Highstone Dance Academy is putting on a fundraising Danceathon to recoup some of the stolen money. The event, from 4pm to 6.30pm on Thursday 12th July 2018, is being held in association with the Coffee Bean coffee shop and with permission from The Spires, Barnet.

The Highstone Dance Academy is a large dance school based in Hadley Highstone, High Barnet. Dancers from the school have always opened Summer Soulstice with a dance performance and the school has a big connection with the fundraisers at Soulstice.

At the Danceathon, pupils from the Highstone Dance Academy will be doing a non stop dance marathon under the guidance of their teachers.

All proceeds of the afternoon will go to the Soulstice Crowd Funding page to replace some of the stolen £45,000+ and consequently will help Cherry Lodge Cancer Care to continue to provide its valuable cancer information and support services completely free of charge to people affected by cancer, including family members and carers. The Coffee Bean have also agreed to donate their proceeds from the event.

If you have any time to spare between 4pm and 6.30pm on Thursday 12th July, do please go along to The Spires to watch the dancers and make a donation. Donations can be made to the Highstone Dance Academy or put in the box on the counter in the Coffee Bean.

Sep 17 @ 8:00 am – 11:00 pm

Summer Soulstice is putting on its first charity Golf Day on Monday 17th September 2018 at The Shire golf course on St Albans Road, just outside Barnet. This event has been set up to help recoup funds raised for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care at this year’s very successful Summer Soulstice festival in June and then stolen in the post-festival burglary.

This is a chance to play on a fantastic Masters course, designed by the late, great Seve Ballesteros. Most of the 100 spaces for players have already been snapped up but if you would like to play, please email Giles (gilespratt10@gmail.com) as soon as possible. Places cost £75 per head; £300 per team.

Please note that Google gives an incorrect post code for The Shire: the correct post code is EN5 4RE.

Kate Burdett (aka Murphy), a member of Cherry Lodge Cancer Care, has signed up for a novel fundraising challenge to thank Cherry Lodge for its ongoing support (see her story below).

During a two-week period starting on 10th October 2018 (a week later than originally planned), Kate is undertaking a ‘Channel Challenge’ involving swimming 22 miles at her local swimming pool – a distance equivalent to crossing the English Channel! Please visit Kate’s JustGiving page to sponsor her and raise funds to help Cherry Lodge Cancer Care continue its good work.

Kate’s Story

“As many of you are aware I have battled cancer and am currently winning! After lots of surgery I have what will hopefully be the last big one coming up next year and want to give something back while I’m fit and able before the big op. Cherry Lodge in Barnet is an independent cancer charity who have supported me since my initial diagnosis and continue to do so.

As a thank you I am raising money for them by completing a Channel Challenge in October which will involve swimming 22 miles over a two week period at my local pool. I hope you are able to support me and this wonderful charity!  Many thanks x”
