Barnet children bake and sell cakes for Cherry Lodge

A group of Barnet children got together to put on a very successful fundraising cake sale at The Spires on Saturday 21st July 2018. The sale, which raised a very useful £135.13, was organised to raise money for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care to help recompense for the £45,000+ stolen in the dreadful burglary after this year’s Summer Soulstice festival.

Most of the kids in the group used to go to Foulds School and are now pupils at QEGS (girls) or TTA (boys). There were also friends and siblings from various other schools. The initiative for the cake sale came from Franki, Charlotte and Ollie, with lots of others happy to join in. Many of the children broke up on Thursday and so spent Friday baking. Those who were still at school on Friday stayed up late to bake a cake or two.

On the day of the sale, The Spires were great in helping set up tables. People who came to the cake sale were very generous and some even donated without buying a cake. Most knew about the burglary and were eager to support the children’s big effort.

Cherry Lodge sends a huge thank you to Franki, Charlotte, Ollie, Sam, Richie, Josh, Adrian, Kipp, Pearl, Evie, Katie and Clarice – and to anyone else who helped make this cake sale such an enjoyable and successful event.
